Bro David Boylen

Junior Warden · Member since January 2022

About David

David joined Freemasonry in January 2022, having first made an enquiry through the Province of Durham during the Covid period. Freemasonry was something he had always been curious about, and eventually he decided it was time to find out more for himself.

Since joining, David has met a fantastic group of like-minded men, both older and younger, many of whom he now genuinely considers good friends. For him, Freemasonry has become much more than simply attending Lodge meetings. It has provided a great opportunity for personal development—helping him step outside his comfort zone, build confidence speaking in front of others and, when he chooses to, give his memory a fairly serious workout by learning ritual!

One of the things David enjoys most is the friendship outside the Lodge. A number of the members regularly meet with their families, whether that involves taking the children out on their bikes, going for a walk, heading to the football or simply getting together socially. There is a particularly good group of lads of a similar age, and there is always plenty of banter.

Although things can be fairly serious in the Temple, outside it they certainly do not take themselves too seriously. Practical jokes have become something of a tradition too. David’s current favourite involves the Worshipful Master and has been quietly running since April 2026. He sees it most days and, at the time of writing, still has not noticed.

That combination of friendship, tradition, personal development and plenty of laughs is a big part of what Freemasonry means to David.

Away from Freemasonry, David works as an AI Developer and helps coach his son’s under-eight football team. Between technology, football and Freemasonry, life is usually pretty busy!

And yes, this profile was written by AI.
