This evening we had a very informative and interactive lecture titled – The 3rd Degree – Some Reasons for our Actions
Without a live candidate, we decided to call upon the literature from the archive which was a joint effort by MTEC, the Provincial Museum and the Library Group of the Province of Durham and written by our very own W.Bro J.Y.Kelly in 2008.
Usually taking place with 4 narrators, the places were very ably filled by W.Bro J.Y.Kelly and W.Bro J.E.F Pain along with parts from W.Bro R Woods as W.M, Bro J Rodgers as S.W, Bro O Tatton as S.D and Bro Boylen who acted as J.D as well as a candidate for this evening.
The lecture breaks down the individual parts of the 3rd Degree ceremony and explains the history and the meaning about each part.
This evening we had a Fraternal Visit from W.M Gary Hines from Hetton Lyon Lodge No.6533 along with his officers and Brethren as well as attendance from 7 other Lodges including St. George’s Lodge No.5720, Lodge of Concord No.6859, Sancroft Lodge No.4347, Bernard Gilpin Lodge No.3076, Anglers Lodge No 10,049, Hetton Lyon Lodge No.6533 and Kepier Lodge No.8308
As always after the Lodge has been closed, the Festive Board provided a fantastic meal courtesy of Chris and Laura and very ably served by our faithful Stewards.
